Pre-College Research Courses
The sequence of courses is designed to help middle and high school (G7-12) students conduct rigorous research in all disciplines. The content is particularly helpful for students interested in business, economics, statistics, applied math, majors in social science, and interdisciplinary research, such as biostatistics and public health.

REC-H01: Research Process
This course provides an overview of the research process and frequently used methods. This course is the foundation for high school students to start research.


REC-H02: Data Analysis
This course equips students with statistical skills to visualize, describe, and analyze data collected from surveys and databases. Students will learn the necessary quantitative methods used to test hypotheses and draw conclusions.


REC-H03: Research Projects
Students will develop individual research projects, analyze data, test hypotheses, and generate findings. The project can be used for research competitions.


REC-H04: Research Paper Writing
Students completing the REC-H03 will be guided to write a research paper that can be presented at conferences and submitted to journals for potential publication.


REC-H05: Research Competitions
This course will prepare students for major research competitions, including ISEF (G9-12), JSHS (G9-12), and Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge (G6-8).
